Execution:

  • This time we will do the circle in reverse, i.e. on the first count, slightly lift, then swing the left Meel out to the left then swinging inwards and back into the starting posture on the second count.
  • Pivot towards your shield hand with contra-lateral foot i.e. if swinging with left pivot to right on right foot and vice versa.
  • Repeat on the opposite arm on the third and fourth count.

Helpful hints:

  • The inward swing is done in a scooping action, leading with the head of the Meel.
  • Larger Meel are swung more obliquely. So as before the leg (knee) needs to move out of the Meel trajectory by taking a small step backwards.
  • Keep the elbows close but not attached to the body.
  • Lead with the head of the Meel in a scooping motion.
  • Turn the torso with the Meel, work with and not against the flow, but keep looking over the opposite Meel i.e. the shield hand.
